Some matters turn on whether an account can be relied upon. A serious allegation, a disputed sequence of events, a statement made where the consequences of being wrong, in either direction, are significant. These are the situations where credibility assessment earns its place, and where it most needs to be done with restraint.
Our credibility assessments examine accounts, statements and supporting information where accuracy and consistency are important, including senior or sensitive matters that require careful, impartial scrutiny. The work draws on behavioural analysis and investigative review.
We assess whether an account is internally consistent, aligned with known facts, and supported by observable indicators. What we do not do is determine truth in absolute terms. The focus is on identifying inconsistencies, risk factors and areas warranting further inquiry, and on doing so impartially.
This matters most precisely where the temptation to conclude is strongest. In emotionally charged or reputationally significant matters, a confident judgement is exactly what everyone wants and exactly what the evidence is least able to bear. An assessment that respects that boundary protects everyone involved, including the person being assessed.
The outcome is a structured, evidence-informed assessment that supports sound decisions and protects reputational interests. It is designed to give a decision-maker a clearer basis for judgement, not to make the judgement for them.
Handled this way, credibility assessment is not an instrument of suspicion. It is a discipline for thinking clearly when clear thinking is hardest.
